Description
Nanno Culture
Nanno Culture is cultivated at it’s highest density and has the ability to utilize nitrogen waste compounds like ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. This type of phytoplankton should only be used in aquariums with high nutrients, or heavy feeders.
Nannochloropsis Phytoplankton
Nannochloropsis Phytoplankton has been used by hobbyists for years. My Reef Diet produces the highest quality, and densities available. With salt levels at 35ppt our cultures won’t have to adjust to your water, and survive longer. Phytoplankton doesn’t feed corals directly. It feeds the copepod population that in turn, causes the pods to breed, and then your corals reap the benefits. There are several animals like clams, bivalves, and non-photosynthetic corals that can consume phytoplankton directly. Nanno Phyto feeds copepods just like any other phytoplankton. However, Nannochloropsis has the ability to use ammonia, nitrate, and nitrate as a food source, helping hobbyist that like to over feed their fish.
Nannochloropsis Phytoplankton is not the ideal phyto to feed your reef. Because of it’s thicker cellular structure it is more difficult for animals to consume.
INSTRUCTIONS: Dose 5ml of Nannochloropsis for every 20 gallons daily. Test nitrates after one week and adjust dosage for desired effect. Keep refrigerated and shake or invert daily. DO NOT allow the phytoplankton to settle at the bottom.
PLEASE NOTE: If water turns green? Discontinue use until color clears. Reduce dosage and continue. Not all aquariums are the same, and some systems will react differently than others. Please follow recommended instructions.
